Keiichi has become the Lord of Terror and makes Skuld build a scythe capable of cutting the universal superstring and destroying the universe.
Summary
As morning rises, the media have an uproar at what happened at the Maruhaku Messe convention center, including the mysterious ring that's hovering above it. On TV, a monk believes it's an evil omen that must be cast away through prayer, while another man claims it can be explained by reading a book he wrote about plasma that he now tries advertising for ¥1400 a piece. Megumi, however, doesn't believe either of them as she watches the argument.
At the Temple, the newly transformed Keiichi dares the Goddesses to attack him, but Urd immediately tosses a Skuld bomb in his direction. Keiichi survives, but the demon inside him reminds them that if he destroys him, Keiichi will die too. Then suddenly, a bright beam shoots down from the sky, but Belldandy swoops in and blocks it from hitting Keiichi. This attack came from the Almighty himself, who orders Belldandy to stand aside and let him destroy the Lord of Terror.
Being protected by Belldandy, Keiichi demands that Skuld build him a ten-dimensional scythe for the Universal Superstring. Skuld initially refuses to do so but changes her mind after Keiichi threatens to cave his own head in with a hammer. Finding an abacus in the temple ruins, Skuld performs some necessary calculations and begins building the scythe. When she's done, she first attempts to trick Keiichi into accepting a ten-dimensional rice cooker, but he isn't fooled and she reluctantly hands him the scythe, which can cut the superstring because it was created by a Goddess.
Once he takes hold of the scythe, Keiichi declares that he will destroy the universe and then reweave it in his own vision, and he teleports the superstring from the Maruhaku Messe to the temple so he can cut it. Urd desperately tells Belldandy that they have to kill Keiichi in order to save the universe, but Belldandy is unable to bring herself to do it. Keiichi severs the superstring in one great swing, but Belldandy suddenly grabs him from behind, trying to force the Lord of Terror out of Keiichi by the two of them operating on different wavelengths.
Skuld gets an idea and asks Urd to help. Skuld picks up a floppy disk and throws it at Keiichi's forehead while Urd divides herself and uses magic to support Belldandy. The Lord of Terror decides to transfer from Keiichi to the floppy disk, but Skuld immediately pops the write protection tab off of the disk, rendering a read-only file. Then, she takes a powerful magnet and runs it over the magnetic floppy disk, erasing the Ultimate Destruction Program from existence.
As Keiichi regains consciousness, the goddesses speak to the Almighty. He commends them for their effort to defeat the Lord of Terror but says that Yggdrasil must now divert all of its resources to substituting and rebuilding the universal superstring and that the system is down for the foreseeable future. He gives them a choice of either returning to heaven under their own power or staying on Earth. Urd is delighted that her license won't be suspended because the system is down, but the Almighty instead says that what has happened will be put on her permanent record, causing Urd to call him a meanie.
When the Almighty leaves, Belldandy sits down next to Keiichi, who overheard their conversation. Belldandy says that with the system down, all of her contracts and duties are suspended. When Keiichi asks her if she'll return home now, Belldandy repeats what she had told Mara earlier: she hadn't been staying simply because of the contract, but because she loves him, something she proves by kissing him on the cheek.
