Strange and increasingly volatile occurrences begin happening due to bugs appearing through an exhaust port that opens whenever Keiichi and Belldandy are close together. Belldandy is issued a recall notice and will return to Heaven in three days, putting her ability to keep her promise to Keiichi in jeopardy.
Full Recap[]
Keiichi experiences a dream of giving Belldandy a ring, only for her to say that she doesn't belong in this world and leave. Belldandy is with him as he wakes up in the middle of the night, but tells her that there is nothing to worry about. She leaves, but Keiichi tells himself that Belldandy is a goddess who may have to leave him one day.
Keiichi wakes up again in the morning to find that it snowed, and Urd and Skuld are having a snowball fight. He goes to put chains on his motorcycle, only to discover that it only snowed inside the temple, and the rest of town is completely untouched. Realizing the need to remove the snow before people get suspicious, Keiichi volunteers to shovel the snow off the roof, but he panics upon finding a bug and falls off the roof. Belldandy uses magic to slow his fall, and Skuld destroys the bug with her mallet, causing all the snow to disappear.
Inside, breakfast is interrupted by more bugs, which nearly kill Keiichi when he becomes magnetic and attracts knives from the kitchen. Skuld uses a bug-catching device to catch all the bugs in the vicinity, and she discovers that a bug exhaust port has opened up due to Keiichi and Belldandy sitting close to each other; the port closes as soon as they back away.
Belldandy answers a phone call from the Lord, who tells her that because of the recent occurrences, he has issued her a recall notice, despite having a contract with Keiichi, and that she will leave for Heaven in three days. Keiichi overhears the conversation and asks Belldandy what her recall means, but Belldandy lies and says that it's likely a system malfunction in Heaven and that she can come back once it's fixed.
Keiichi goes to school without Belldandy, and already his classmates have begun spreading rumors that he and Belldandy have separated; while at home, Belldandy ignores Urd's advice and teleports to school through a mirror, promising to return if the effects become more severe.
Sayoko shows up right before class ends so she can talk to Keiichi about Belldandy and ask if they had a fight, but Keiichi refuses to tell her anything. They keep walking in the hall, and Sayoko offers to give Keiichi a ride in the new Mercedes she bought when Belldandy appears. Keiichi is excited, but as soon as he tries getting closer to Belldandy, the nearby windows shatter, and Belldandy quickly leaves.
Later, Keiichi is finding a seat in a cafeteria when Belldandy enters with a thermos in her hands, but a nearby vending machine explodes when she tries handing it him and she runs away, saddened. Megumi finds Keiichi and asks him what's happened between him and Belldandy, and Keiichi explains that Belldandy is returning "home" and he doesn't know what to do about it, but he'd hoped his love for her would keep them together. Megumi tells him that if he really loves Belldandy, he should tell her to stay close to him forever and buy her a ring worth three months of pay. Megumi is, of course, joking, but Keiichi takes it seriously and suddenly leaves; Megumi is upset at having to clean up after her brother.
Keiichi goes to the Auto Club and convinces Tamiya to give him a part-time job, and Hasegawa—another auto club member—tells him he can also start working at a convenience store. Keiichi accepts that job as well, and he gives Hasegawa a note that he wants her to hand to Belldandy.
Hasegawa finds Belldandy sitting on a bench by herself and hands her Keiichi's note, which says that they should go home separately, but that he was glad to see her, even if for only a moment.
At home, Urd and Skuld use a computer to research the cause of the bugs. Skuld is unsure why an exhaust port for the bugs has formed between Keiichi and Belldandy, but she says that it's being powered by a nearby attractor and that if they can destroy it, the bugs will go away.
Belldandy goes into the women's room on campus to use its mirror to return to the temple but is nearly caught by Sayoko, who was in one of the stalls. Sayoko asks Belldandy about the rumors that she and Keiichi have broken up and that she's going back to her homeland. Belldandy denies breaking up with Keiichi but reluctantly admits that she is leaving, which upsets Sayoko because she doesn't want Belldandy to leave after suddenly arriving on campus and becoming so popular at her expense. Sayoko tells Belldandy that she'd better come back quickly, or she might "steal" Keiichi from her.
Belldandy returns home, but nobody is inside. She goes out and finds Keiichi, Urd, and Skuld standing in front of a large, dormant tree, which Skuld has identified as the source of power attracting bugs to Earth. Belldandy is horrified at the sight of the tree, but she refuses to answer if she knows anything about it. Keiichi begs Belldandy to tell them because of how badly he wants to be with her, but she still refuses to talk and runs inside in tears. She blames herself for what's happening and wonders if she can keep her promise with Keiichi, but begs the Lord to grant her just one wish...
