A second tiny ninja named Hikari infiltrates the Temple on the mission to eliminate Kodama as the latter's punishment for having abandoned the ninja clan.
Summary
A cabal of ninjas has sentenced Kodama to death, and Kodama feels a chill in her soul as she sits on Belldandy's shoulder. Belldandy is worried about her and offers to give her some hot tea after Kodama claims she's feeling under the weather. Unbeknownst to them, another tiny ninja is watching them nearby, determined to eliminate Kodama according to the ninja code, which forbids forsaking the ninja ways.
Belldandy suddenly spots this ninja, and Kodama immediately attacks her because she is an Oi-Shinobi, a ninja hunter, but she discovers this ninja is Hikari, a person whom she used to be friends with in their past lives as rats. As Kodama and Hikari continue their fight inside, Keiichi can't focus on his work with all of the noise. He barges outside and stumbles across the two of them when Kodama tells him to stay out of their way. Hikari suspects Keiichi is Kodama's boyfriend and threatens to stab the inside of his nose unless she gives up.
Kodama complies for Belldandy's sake and removes all her gear save her underwear and Hikari throws blades at her. However, Kodama is the master of illusion and used a dummy to distract Hikari while she was behind him. Belldandy stops Kodama from ambushing Hikari with a knife from behind, reminding Kodama that life is sacred, including those of other people. Both Kodama and Hikari bow in Belldandy's presence, making Hikari realize she wants to abandon the ninja way as well and live here with Kodama. Keiichi asks Belldandy if they can trust Hikari, and Belldandy says that she knows Hikari is earnest, though she feels like an alarm has gone off in her heart.
Hikari and Kodama take over the TV in Urd's room, to the goddess's annoyance. The two ninjas suggest they resolve the dispute with a majority vote, and they outvote four mini-Urds by using a split shadow technique to divide themselves into over a dozen ninjas. Skuld also tries to watch the TV (as the one in the living room is an old black-and-white), but she gives up and goes back to her room. Later on, Hikari offers Kodama a doughnut, but Kodama splits it with her.
While Keiichi is asleep, Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld talk privately, and Belldandy and Urd suspect Hikari is hiding something from them. Belldandy says she wants to believe in the light of all people, including Hikari, but when asked by Urd what would happen if Keiichi got hurt, she answers she would protect him with her life.
Hikari sneaks up on Kodama while she is asleep and tries to kill her with a knife, but she can't bring herself to do it before she wakes up. This is witnessed by another tiny ninja named Senrigan, who has been ordered by Mara to eliminate them both. She takes out a clarinet and summons an army of tiny ninjas that swarm the inside of the Temple. Skuld slaps a few of them, but Belldandy prevents Urd from using a high-energy spell since it could kill Keiichi.
In his room, Keiichi is pinned to the floor by ninjas when Belldandy appears in his room via a mirror. Desperate to save him, she uses the "Hama Mekkyaku" Demon Destruction Spell, which knocks down all of the ninjas, but it's so powerful that it shattered Belldandy's Moon ring and, as Urd notes, nearly cost Belldandy her life. Thankfully, she just fell asleep while holding Keiichi, and Urd asks the ninja if they're going to keep fighting. Kodama says that they're eternally bound by the law of the ninja, and the only way to forsake that law is to either leave the mortal realm or kill everyone who pursues them. However, Urd asks if all the ninja in their clan is present here and presents them with a third option.
Mara receives a letter from her ninjas informing her that they have all left the ninja clan, to her fury.
