With Yggdrasil down, the goddesses must rely on alternative methods of acquiring life-sustaining energy, and Keiichi must find a solution before Urd and Skuld's expensive demands bankrupt him!

Summary

It's been one month since the ordeal with the Lord of Terror ended, and things have returned to normal, mostly.

Keiichi returns home with some ice cream he bought, but the Temple is suspiciously quiet. He comes across Belldandy sprawled out on the floor, but thankfully she's just sleeping. Holding her in his arms, he contemplates stealing a kiss from her but ultimately decides against it. Instead, Skuld is the one who makes a steal, taking all of the ice cream Keiichi brought and quickly eating it.

Keiichi runs to Urd out of concern for Belldandy and Skuld, but he finds her hammered after helping herself to some of his special "Demon's Dance" saké that he went through a lot of effort to buy. Now, both she and Skuld clamor at his feet and pathetically beg him to buy more saké and ice cream, respectively.

When Belldandy eventually wakes up three days later, she tells Keiichi that, as goddesses living on Earth, they're supposed to take energy from nature, but that energy has to be processed through Yggdrasil before they can use it, and that can't be done because Yggdrasil is still offline. Instead, they need to rely on alternative methods, and Keiichi figures that that would include ice cream, alcohol, and sleep, which Belldandy suddenly goes back to doing.

Keiichi leaves a letter for Urd and Skuld saying he's running low on money and hopes they can make do on cheaper substitute saké and ice cream brands, though they're not at all happy. At Nekomi Tech, everyone suspects that he's become a loner again, unaware that he's carrying around a miniature Belldandy on his shoulder since she can conserve energy in a smaller body. However, they come across a strange woman dressed as a fortune teller operating a stall on campus. Keiichi initially ignores her but she manages to get his attention by saying that she knows about his problems with money and women. She introduces herself as Yuki Gomorrah, the "vice-chairman of the N.I.T. mystery circle subcommittee on scrying, divination, and character analysis" and claims that, for just ¥2000, she can help him solve his problems. Keiichi hands over the money, and she tells them that he can derive the power he seeks from Moon rocks scattered around the world. As Keiichi and Belldandy ride home, Belldandy quietly thanks the Almighty, as he had secretly implanted a subliminal message into Yuki so that she could give them useful advice.

When they arrive home to deliver the news, they find Urd and Skuld having become shorter and larger respectively. Belldandy explains that the head emblems they have are known as "emblem programs", which regulate body functions, and Urd has the emblem of the past and Skuld has the emblem of the future; with their energy supply disrupted, they're now becoming younger and older (Belldandy, however, has the emblem of the present and thus experiences no change).

Keiichi tells Urd and Skuld that they can derive energy from Moon rocks, but since NASA obviously won't give him any samples, Keiichi has to think about how he's supposed to get some. Skuld, now a grown adult, personally asks him to help her since she doesn't want to become an old maid so soon. At night, he takes her and mini-Belldandy to the Nekomi Tech, where Belldandy gets jealous that the now grown-up Skuld is holding onto Keiich's arm. As Keiichi explains, they can't get Moon rocks, but they can make synthetic ones because he knows what they're made of.

They enter the campus' materials lab and insert powdered aluminum, calcium, and titanium into a multi-ton hydraulic press and let it run overnight. In the morning, Keiichi takes out a palm-sized moonstone and hands it to Skuld, which causes her to immediately revert back to her normal size after absorbing its energy.

However, Urd still needs help, as she has become the size of a small child, though her heavy drinking has temporarily halted her shrinking.
