Time runs out for Keiichi to stop the Demon Boy's plan.
Summary
The Demon Boy is amused that Keiichi and Belldandy went ahead and activated the switch that resumed time, accusing Keiichi of abandoning Belldandy. Keiichi tells him that had he done nothing, there was no guarantee that either he or Belldandy would die—he points out that despite claiming he's going to die, the Boy looks the same and shows no sign of it. Thus, he pressed the button because he still wanted to take his chance to beat him, even if he had just a minute.
Now, the Boy reveals that he tricked him and Belldandy. He lied about saying time would stop unless he pressed the button when it was the opposite; now that it's pressed, he only has about a minute before time stops. He taunts Keiichi for wasting half of his minute and decides to kill him by rewinding his time until he doesn't exist anymore. Instead, Belldandy runs in between Keiichi and the Boy's attack and gets hit instead. The Boy is distraught that Belldandy chose to protect that "creature" Keiichi while she doesn't even remember his name.
Urd and Skuld continue attempting to handle the deteriorating situation with Yggdrasil, where Skuld panics about not being able to break a password in just sixty seconds, and Urd stops her from doing something with her control console. At the same time, she thinks about some way she could buy some more time.
The effect of the Boy's attack on Belldandy reverts her body to that of a child similar to Peorth, and she begs him to bring back time before falling unconscious. With her asleep, Keiichi asks him to be honest and if there's any way to restore time. The Boy answers that the only way to do it would be for Belldandy to say his name, thereby lifting his curse and preventing her death. Keiichi chides the Boy for being so selfish since none of this would've happened if he hadn't been so selfish and just forgotten about Belldandy. The Boy asks Keiichi if he could've forgotten about Belldandy if he was in the same situation, but he says it doesn't matter anymore since time will stop in a few seconds.
However, after the Boy finishes counting down the remaining seconds, they can hear the chirping of birds in the background, meaning time hasn't stopped after all. The Boy is surprised, unable to believe that the virus he uploaded to Yggdrasil could be stopped.
