As Keiichi, Belldandy, and Skuld head into town to shop, Banpei has finally recovered his emotional memories and puts on a disguise to follow them.
Summary
While the affair with Demon Urd has ended, the question of what to do with the spare clone Urd skin Skuld used is brought up. Belldandy offers to tidy it up and hang it in a closet, but nobody else is excited about that idea. Eventually, Belldandy realizes she needs to shop for groceries and suggests that a change in scenery can help her think about what to do. Keiichi and Skuld elect to follow her, while Urd stays behind to watch TV. As the three of them walk outside, Banpei walks up to Belldandy, seemingly wanting to go with her. Belldandy tells him that he can't come along due to his appearance as a machine, and Skuld believes that Banpei is acting strangely.
After they leave, it's revealed that Skuld's premonition was correct. Banpei's emotion circuits have managed to scrape together what little memories he had before his system was wiped and have completely reconstructed themselves. Banpei now finds the clone Urd's skin and put it on along with some of Keiichi's clothes to make as passable of a human disguise as possible.
Heading into Nekomi, Banpei spots a man harassing a schoolgirl and hits him with a rocket fist, crosses the street with schoolchildren, and catches a balloon about to fly away from a mother and her baby. Meanwhile, at the outdoor market, Belldandy comes across salt shakers that look like Banpei and decides to buy one, but Skuld is still thinking about what happened with Banpei earlier. Keiichi spots Banpei's disguise walking by just as a kid bumps into Belldandy and makes her drop her saltshaker, but Banpei catches it and reveals his identity to her and the others.
Belldandy thanks Banpei for his help and is delighted when Skuld says that his emotion circuits must've reactivated, but Skuld says that's actually a terrible thing. Suddenly, Banpei's sensors pick up a fire in a nearby restaurant and he rushes over to the scene with the others in tow. Firefighters believe that everyone has been safely evacuated from the building, but Belldandy senses that someone is still inside, and she chants a magical spell to make it rain over the building.
Banpei runs into the burning building to Skuld's shock, as she had created a self-preservation program inside Banepi which is not functioning due to his emotion circuits. Teary-eyed, she cries out this is why she didn't give Banpei emotions, believing that it's better to have no emotions than to forget about oneself and get hurt.
Belldandy's rain spell puts out the fire, and after a second, Banpei bursts through the roof with a cat in his arms, while his disguise has disappeared. Belldandy comforts Skuld and tells her that Banepi only wanted to walk around and help other people because he is alive, and he's alive because she made him that way.
At home, Urd is reading through a pile of mail that arrived today, and Keiichi pretends that he has no idea where it came from. She also asks herself where that clone's skin went, but she figures that ignorance is bliss and forgets about it.
